As promised, we are back with more news!
After months of training, Chris ran and completed the distance of 42.195km / 26 miles 385 yards at this years London Marathon on April 26th, completing the course in 4 hours and 46 minutes.
After swearing ”never again’’ at about the 20 mile mark, Chris has already signed up for the ballot for next years London Marathon in a bid to improve on this years time and also in his bid to raise more money for his chosen charities.
Chris is still working hard to achieve this year’s charity target and we wish him all the best with these worth while causes!

We at Eldon have a philosophy about going that ‘extra mile,’ an idea that has been taken quite literally by one of our team.
Chris Bourne, Internal Sales Manager, based at our sales office in Rotherham, UK, having already successfully completed several half marathons at Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield has decided that half is not good enough and will be running in his first full marathon—this year’s London Marathon on the 26th of April.
Held each year since 1981, the London Marathon is one off the world’s top five marathons. The event is broadcast live by the BBC. Covering the distance of 42.195km / 26 miles 385 yards, (part of which will be used at the 2012 London Olympics), the course passes many landmarks such as the famous nineteenth century clipper ship, The Cutty Sark, the Tower of London, both Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace.
Competing in a race of this length takes dedication and commitment. Chris has been diligently running five times each week in preparation for the upcoming race.
But what makes it all really worth while for Chris is that with each step he takes on the racecourse, he is raising funds for his chosen charities: The British Heart Foundation and Bluebell Children’s hospice.
Both these charities mean a lot to Chris. The British Heart Foundation carries out vital research and support for heart disease and those affected by it. Bluebell Wood Children’s hospice provides care for serious and terminally ill children and is almost totally reliant on charitable donations. Having already raised several thousand pounds on previous events, Chris is committed to achieving this again.
The Eldon Group would like to take this opportunity to wish Chris the best of luck not only as a competitor in the 2009 London Marathon but as a humanitarian, striving to raise funds for deserving charities.
