Elektra 2006
Eldon Finalists - Manufacturer of the year
Having enjoyed continued and sustained growth in recent years, Eldon's UK manufacturing operation at Rotherham has continued to develop through manufacturing process improvements and expansion, increasing its workforce by over 50% during 2006.
It was therefore with great pleasure that our efforts were recognised when Eldon received a nomination as one of three companies short-listed for 'Manufacturer of the Year' from Elektra, to be awarded in Munich during November.
There were several award categories with nominees from various industries; RS Components, Farnell InOne, Toshiba and Samsung to name but a few. Eldon's recent success is a least partly due to the employment and refining of a cellular approach to the manufacturing process. Pioneered in Japan, this approach in production places all production stations in close proximity. By improving communication and reducing the time transitioning from one part of manufacturing process to the next, the "cellular" approach allows for significantly increased flexibility and reduces lead times.

As with all industries, manufacturing is experiencing unprecedented increases in raw material; Stainless Steel prices reaching record levels during 2006. However, Eldon has still continued to see massive ever-growing demand for its products as we grow market share. This growth reflects the efforts to ensure that we keep our product quality high, lead times low and provide the ideal enclosure.
The ongoing challenge now is to continue to maintain the growth in output to match the ever-growing demand.
As Eldon continue to grow in sales, output and solutions offered to customers will surely become the basis of next year's entry!
